TTRI has developed a new dry thermoplastic carbon fiber/PC composite using recycled carbon fiber, which features a heat-pressure lamination thickness of ≤1.0 mm, fiber content of 60%, and flexural modulus of ≥33 GPa. The composite has passed the UL94 V-0 flame retardant test and meets the highest Global Recycle Standard with its recyclable and remodelable properties.
The technology used to create the composite can be used to develop high-grade carbon fiber composites with high strength, light weight, and thin profiles for applications such as laptop cases, carbon-fiber shoe boards, and baggage.
