TITAS 2018 Exhibitor introduction - GIFTSTART
GIFTSTART CO., LTD.
Giftstart Launches Reflective Luminous Yarns, Fabrics & Accessories

By taking advantage of its patented technology, Giftstart has recently rolled out yarns, fabrics and accessories that can generate altogether colorful-reflection, glowing-in-the-dark and pattern-varying visual effects in the products they constitute.

The technology was applied to make a gigantic traffic sign mounted on an entrance truss of the 2018 New Taipei Sky Lantern Festival early this year. It is the world’s first traffic sign that, after absorbing light, can reflect, radiate light and generate pattern-varying visual effect, making the sign more energy efficient and eco-friendly than the LEDs used at the same festival one year earlier.

The unique technology is patented by Managing Director Moil Y.C. Shih with PCT WIPO (World Intellectual property organization) NO.:WO2016/192206 and No. I582470:M520641 of Taiwan. By adopting the technology, the company has introduced a series of textiles including yarn, prints, film and piping

The reflective and luminous yarn can be used to make sewing threads, knitted and woven fabrics, straps and ropes for a variety of  industries, including clothing, footwear, bag, home furnishings and furniture, among others

The T/C-based reflective and luminous print fabrics can be woven or knitted, featuring stretch, waterproof or other performance

The reflective and luminous material, in the form of film or piping and with the presence of incident light, can reflect, absorb and radiate light. Consequently, the material can glow in pitch darkness  by itself after absorbing enough light. In addition, with incident light, the material can produce a pattern-varying visual effect via different observation angles, distance and brightness. Its colorful reflection enhances visibility and thus safety, in addition to creating better aesthetic appeal than common white-light reflection. Furthermore, the excellent light-absorption and luminousness performance makes the material an energy-saving light source which generates less light pollution than streetlights. Therefore, when extensively used on traffic vehicles and personal items and in public places, the material can help boost the efficiency in emergency escape, disaster relief, public safety and energy conservation.

Besides textiles, the material can also be applied to a multitude of materials and products including nonwoven, leather, plastics, rubber, paper, wooden materials, metal, apparel, case, bag, vehicle, airplane, hat, footwear, socks, umbrella, box, label, sticker, adhesive tape, raincoat, traffic sign, signboard, poster, TV screen, computer monitor, display, LCD panel, and so on
